Striving

The vector towards the Highest; “the key to every cave”, a synonym of psychic energy (Helena Roerich)

Nicholas Roerich. Messenger. Tribe Has Risen Against Tribe, 1897
Tuning-fork painting: “Messenger. Tribe Has Risen Against Tribe”, 1897 · State Tretyakov Gallery · night, the moon over a sleeping settlement; two men in the boat: an old man at the stern guards the news, a young man at the bow steers with a pole – movement against the dark, when nobody is waiting.
Where it is trained

Quality no. 1, “the key to every cave” and, in Helena Roerich's words, a synonym of psychic energy. Trained where a person chooses a direction: in the morning, in setting a goal, in the moments of “what is all this for”.

The deep level

what you called “why” on Day 1, the Teaching calls striving — quality no. 1, “the key to every cave”. It is not a lunge and not a dream, but an even daily vector towards the Highest and the future, a synonym of psychic energy itself.

The check question of the day: Did I take a step towards the future today, or serve yesterday's chaos?

In the 30 Days course — Day 1 (experience) and Day 16 (the name and depth).

Ways to train it

Two sources, always marked: ◆ from the Teaching — the core; ◇ a working tool — modern evidence-based practice, a secular reinforcement for a specific task. They must not be mixed up; working with them together is possible and necessary.

The morning sending into the future. “He who wishes to attain strives in thought into the future.” Every morning formulate one step that leads not to yesterday's chaos but to what you are building. Anchor: New Era Community, §55 (“Striving is the boat of an Arhat… Striving is the key to every cave”). — from the Teaching
Link the day's task to the far meaning. An evidence-based technique: people sustain effort longer when they see the link between routine and a big goal. Before an ordinary task, answer in one phrase “what bigger thing is this a part of”. — a working tool
“The rule of flight”: striving goes out when you stop. Do not let the goal “freeze” — keep at least a micro-movement towards it every day, even a symbolic one. An analogue of the continuity principle from the mechanics of habit. — a working tool
The trap. A fanatical lunge and contempt for ordinary life. Striving is not exaltation but an even vector; a flare burns out in three days.
The minimum for a hard day. One phrase in the morning: “today, one step towards the future is…”.

How it works in ordinary life

Work, career, self-realisation.

Mechanism: the vector cuts out the noise → efforts accumulate in one direction instead of scattering across ten → in a year or two competence and a reputation in a niche appear, which busyness does not give.

Sign: over a year a direction is visible, not a list of closed tasks.

Boundary: the vector does not replace skill and does not cancel the market; striving without daily application is daydreaming.
