Co-measurement and Discernment
A sense of measure; one of the “four stones of the foundation” (Illumination)
One of the “four stones of the foundation” (Illumination, part 2, ch. IX, §9). Without co-measurement “one can neither grow nor build” (New Era Community, §67). Trained in the sense of measure: what is important and what is petty; where to speak, where to stay silent.
the measure of Day 4 is co-measurement, one of the “four stones of the foundation” of actions. Without it “one can neither grow nor build” (Community, §67): spiritual maturity is measured by the ability to distinguish the small from the large. Its pair is discernment: the heart as the measure of whom to help and how.
In the 30 Days course — Day 4 (experience) and Day 27 (the name and depth).
Ways to train it
Two sources, always marked: ◆ from the Teaching — the core; ◇ a working tool — modern evidence-based practice, a secular reinforcement for a specific task. They must not be mixed up; working with them together is possible and necessary.
How it works in ordinary life
Keeping money and time, strategic decisions.
Mechanism: distinguishing the large from the small → the main task of the day is protected, false goals are turned down, impulsive spending and “urgent” instead of important become rarer. The most expensive mistakes in life come not from stupidity but from the wrong measure. Its sister is discernment: whom to help and how.
Sign: the calendar stops consisting of other people's fires.
Boundary: not caution to the point of paralysis and not an eternal “not yet”.
